Supporting the Food and Drink-related Quality of Life of older adults living at home.

We are Lavinia and Kanwal from the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and we would like to invite you to take part in the following research study:
Supporting the Food and Drink-related Quality of Life of older adults living at home.
The study has been funded by the NIHR Research Programme for Social Care.
What is the aim for the study?
This study is looking at how we can make sure older people who use homecare services eat and drink well. We would like to understand what works well and what could be improved and highlight the vital contribution of homecare to people’s wellbeing.
The study is looking to invite people to take part from services who deliver publicly funded care. There is also the opportunity for participants to engage in future workshops.
What does the study involve?
We are looking to conduct interviews with the following groups in Ealing borough:
• Older adults (65yo +) in receipt of publicly funded home care.
• Family and friend (unpaid) carers
• Homecare workers and managers
• Social workers and other professionals carrying out needs assessment
The interviews will last about 30 minutes and participants will receive a £20 voucher as a thank you for their time.
What am I being asked to do?
We are asking organisations to help us to identify and forward information onto staff, clients and family carers who may be able to take part. We will provide you with all necessary information in order to do this.
Organisations that do support will receive a remuneration for identifying staff, clients and family carers to take part, as follows:
• £200 for setting up
• £55.00 for identifying staff members to take part
• £165.00 for identifying clients and family carers
If you are interested in supporting this study, please email Lavinia at QoL@bsms.ac.uk or call 0779 554 0753 with your interest.
Why take part?
Taking part in research can be a rewarding experience for people, and as a service it can help contribute to a better CQC rating under “Learning, Improvement and Innovation”.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you.
Kindest regards,
Lavinia and Kanwal
