Ambulance Strikes

On the 21st and 28th of December, strike action has been announced by GMB, Unite and Unison members with nine ambulance trusts on the first date and eight on the second. These will last for 24 hours on each day. NHSE has issued this letter to Integrated Care Boards in preparation. This repeats some of the information previously circulated in October about winter resilience measures. We are currently asking DHSC for tailored communications for social care as well as guidance on where to find support if needed. As derogation discussions with trade unions are ongoing at a local level and we are this close to the strike dates, we are concerned that people in care settings who need healthcare support may not get it when needed. In the absence of all else, you will want to get in touch with the Local Resilience Forums as well as any contacts you have at a local level with the ICSs. We have asked for clear information from DHSC.
