The digital campaign will be headed by a new mascot, ‘Andi Biotic’, who is on a ‘one-pill’ mission to help young adults keep antibiotics working. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has launched a new digital campaign to help keep antibiotics working and tackle the threat of antibiotic resistance.
Antibiotic resistance is a major public health threat. New attitudinal research by UKHSA highlights that almost half of the UK population (42%) are concerned about how the issue affects them. Yet, over half (54%) are either unsure there’s anything they can individually do to prevent antibiotics becoming less effective at treating infections (28%) or incorrectly believe there’s nothing they can personally do (26%). The letter confirms that there are no changes to the eligible cohorts and that the offer of a flu vaccination for certain adult social care workers is also the same as last year. Further details on eligibility and the operation of the programme are included in the letter.

Digital Care Hub
- Call to Action on AI in social care
On 27 March 2025, over 150 participants gathered for the first-ever AI Summit in Social Care, a groundbreaking event bringing together care providers, social care staff, individuals drawing on care and support, tech suppliers, local authorities, academics, national bodies, and regulators. The summit was the culmination of a 12-month collaborative effort co-led by the Institute for Ethics in AI, the Digital Care Hub, and Casson Consulting. At the summit, a Call to Action, Guidance, and a Pledge for Tech Suppliers were launched, aimed at ensuring that AI, especially generative AI, is developed and used responsibly, ethically, and inclusively within the sector. Everyone in the sector is encouraged to endorse the Call to Action, and all tech suppliers to sign up to the pledge.
Feedback to date has been incredibly positive, and it is just the start. A new alliance will be formed to take forward this work. To keep in touch, sign up to Digital Care Hub’s newsletter and check social media using #AIinSocialCare.
