- UKHSA data shows flu vaccine prevented around 100,000 hospital admissions
On Thursday (22 May), the UK Health Security Agency announced that the flu vaccine prevented between 96,000 and 120,200 hospitalisations in England during the 2024/25 winter season.
The data showed high levels of flu activity with significant impact on the NHS, with a cumulative hospital admission rate of 139.5 per 100,000 – higher than in both previous seasons. Details here.
- NHS App prescription tracking service launched
Today (23 May), the NHS announced the rollout of a prescription tracking feature on the NHS App, allowing millions of patients to track their prescriptions in real-time.
The service saves time for both staff and patients by reducing unnecessary calls and visits to pharmacies, with almost half of pharmacy phone calls estimated to be from patients checking if their prescription is ready. Details here.
- HSE’s Working Minds campaign – new learning launched
New online learning content has been launched as part of the Health and Safety Executive’s ‘Working Minds’ campaign. The new module aims to build on existing knowledge with practical advice on:
• what to include in a risk assessment
• identifying and addressing the root cause of issues
• shifting focus from individual to organisational solutions

- NAPA survey – Lend Your Voice to Support Intergenerational Activities in Care Setting
As interest continues to grow in the impact of intergenerational activities within care settings, NAPA, in partnership with the University of Chichester and the University of Hertfordshire, has launched a national survey to explore this important area of practice.
